[Low Intermediate] How to fold the Mini Magic Ball (designed by Yuri and Katrin Shumakov - www.oriland.com ) using a new easier method that uses no tape or glue.
In this tutorial I show how to fold it from a 4.25- inch X 11.5-inch rectangle which is simply half a sheet of letter-sized printer paper.
It can also be folded from a US dollar bill (3X7 rectangle) and I have a separate tutorial for that: https://youtu.be/0BoW0Kw0zo0
The Magic Ball and related designs were published in the book "Origami Magic Ball Wonders" available on Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/1505835054 or the digital version: www.oriland.com/store/ebooks/main.php Upon purchasing this book I now see that it contains a method for folding the Mini Magic Ball without tape (dating back to 1996!), but my method is different in at least three ways:
The folds in my method are made from a different angle which saves the folder from having to reverse dozens of creases
My method avoids having to make a diagonal grid in both directions
The final lock uses a one-unit overlap instead of two which is a little more efficient in its use of paper.
