These two paper people are Lizzy Mace and Juliette Burton (Mace and Burton), the papercrafts are created by sally. Lizzy Mace and Juliette Burton met as actor-members of the Cambridge scriptwriting forum. They began writing together at a stand-up comedy workshop run by WRiTEON! in early 2010. Lizzy’s 50-minute solo show, Crush, co-written by Juliette, was well-received by reviewers and audience alike at the Edinburgh Fringe that year, with one critic describing it as “a charming presentation into the nature of romantic crushes … one of the more fruitful hours spent in the smaller rooms of the Free Fringe”. Since discovering a shared love of all-things-confused, and a shared confusion of all-things-love, a light-hearted romp through the rom coms was the natural choice for their first offering as a double-act.
Lizzy Mace studied at Cambridge and went on to train in acting at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Following her performance as Mrs Smith in The Bald Prima Donna at the New Players’ Theatre, she was invited to take part in The Sitcom Trials at Leicester Square Theatre. Lizzy’s performance as Middie Paradock in A Resounding Tinkle was described as ”hilarious” by uktheatre.net. She has previously played to sell-out audiences with comedy sketch groups Moulin Exes and Messrs Comedy, and with improvisers The Amazing Spectacles. She has also read for the London Comedy Writers and worked with immersive comedy performers Gideon Reeling. Lizzy is now building an impressive list of stand-up gigs for a new comic; since making her debut on the London open-mic circuit in January this year she has already performed spots at the Adelaide Fringe and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Juliette Burton studied at the University of the Arts London and went on to work for the BBC and IPC Media. A professional actress for three years, her credits include Anna in Arnold Wesker’s One Woman Plays at the Corpus Playroom, Ellie in The Million Piece Jigsaw Puzzle at the Camden Fringe, Natasha in Special Delivery for the Hotbed Festival, and Susan in Growing Up With Martin at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Juliette is an accomplished presenter and broadcaster, having worked on, among other programmes, The Nine O’Clock Show for BBC Radio, BBC Three Counties Radio, The Hills Road Radio Soap for 209 Radio, and placements at Star 107, BBC Radio 4, BBC 6 Music, BBC Look East and The News Quiz at BBC Radio Comedy. Other comedy experience includes sketch shows The Hedgehog Collective, and I’ll Drive Tonight Darling at the Cambridge Comedy Festival. Juliette has also worked with BBC TV Development and BBC Local Radio Development. She is currently working on her debut solo comedy show When I Grow Up…
