What is papercraft?

Papercraft, also called card models or paper models, are models constructed mainly from sheets of heavy paper, paperboard, or card stock.
This may be considered a broad category that contains origami and card modeling. Origami is the process of making a paper model by folding paper without using glue. Card modeling is making scale models from sheets of cardstock on which the parts were printed, usually in full color. These pieces would be cut out, folded, scored and glued together. They are generally more popular in Europe and Japan than in the United States.

How to make papercraft?

The images are made by unfolding a 3D computer graphic into 2D using
Pepakura, a program designed specifically for papercraft, or Ultimate Papercraft 3D. These 3D images are either made by graphic softwares, or taken indirectly from the video game. A few models are hand drawn using trial and error.

What tools and materials do you need?

Here is a list what you will need, please check: Paper Model Tools and Materials.

What’s so great about papercraft?

Papercraft is an inexpensive hobby that requires planning and hand-eye coordination. Many model hobbyists became attracted to papercraft because it offers a greater variety of free and difficult models to build.

Categories of Paper Crafts, Paper Models, Paper Toys and Origami?

There are so many papercraft subjects, that accurate classification seems to be a very difficult job, so the categories are based on the paper model themes (such as: Gundam, anime and manga, mecha and robot, vehicles, airplane / aircrafts, origami, military, games, movies, etc.), but you can use tags / labels for more detailed categories or themes (for exsample, you can click on the tag "Tank" for many Tank Paper Models). Of course, you can also use the search function to find the paper model which you want to get.

Tips: You can search paper crafts using combination of keywords (theme, name, scale, etc.), such as "SD Gundam GAT-X105 Strike", "1:72 World War II SU-76 tank", "Marvel Avengers Cube Hulk"...

  1. Please- this link is broken. I cannot download the plans

  2. Hi. Can you please fix the link for the GR-2 Robo? Thanks.

  3. Hi papercraft square,
My name is Ryan and i'm a student.
In the near month, we are entering some sort of competition between students.
The competition is about anything that can benefit our study as a student, it is like a fair but we must have some economic values in our stuff.
So, i was wondering if we can use some of the designs here to build our own papercraft and display them at that fair, and sell some of our prebuild ones?
Of course by doing so, we will credit this website and the creator, and told them to go here and download it themselves, we will just mostly use it for display and explain the benefits like you can make some human body anatomy with this, or some chemical molecule that is affordable and you can have some pride by building it yourself.
Our goal is to spread some knowledge and love about papercraft and the fun in building it.
And if you allow us to, we will only sell the one that we build, we will not sell something that we just printed to them.
Can you please let me know if we can realize this idea? And we promise not to mass sell them and take some crazy profit from something that we didn't create and we sincerely just want to spread the knowledge about papercraft and honor the creator or the maker.
    Thank you in advance.
I really hope that we can do this and would be glad to hear from you soon.
    Sincerely yours,
